Can't get on internet shuts down

It won't let me stay on the internet, I hit on safari and it goes to the internet while the rainbow circle is going and the in about 10 sec or less it shuts down and goes to my desk top. Have shut it down several times and still doing the same, I am ready to throw it out in the driveway

Turn Off Airport

Delete the User/Library/Preferences Safari.plist file (it could be corrupted). While Airport is still off launch and reset safari - Remember to deselect any items you don’t want to clear, e.g. save your bookmarks to a separate file first so you can recover them.

Quit Safari.

Turn on Airport and launch Safari.

Try running software update or reinstalling safari. If that doesn't work, the problem should not persist for other web browsers, such as Firefox (which works great on older macs such as the iBook), Camino, or Opera.
