Is it possible to repair dead lower memory slot?

I may upgrade my hard drive which tears the PowerBook pretty close to the logic board which I hear is the reason for the memory slot failing. Is it financially feasible to replace both and do you think the memory slot might hold up?

As far as i know, this boils down to a new logicboard, sorry.
