New Aftermarket Battery runs down in 2-3 hours

I have an iPad 1st Gen 64 GB/ 3G that was water damaged. The previous owner tried to disassemble and broke the digitizer cable so I had to replace the digitizer, along with LCD (backlight burnt out) and battery.

The good news is that it is up and running. The bad news is that the battery only lasts 3-4 hours tops from 100%. The other odd thing is that is only takes an hour or so to charge back up.

My question is whether or not the battery or logic board/charging circuitry is the culprit? Have any of you come across this before with Aftermarket batteries?

Hi,

aftermarket batteries are mostly not so good, as original batteries, but 3 hours of running is very bad. i would say the some of the cells in the batterie are faulty. i would try another batterie. if the same happens you would habe a problem with the logic board.

Makes, sense. Just hate the thought of tearing the iPad back down again. Will give it a shot.

If it's not from Apple or iFixit, then the battery can easily have issues. Get one from iFixit.

Turns out it was the battery after all. Bought another battery and installed it and the iPad now has a normal battery life. Feels good knowing I've given this iPad another shot at life and saved it from a landfill. :)
