how/where to reconnect home button

Hi,

I'm desperate for help...

My iphone 4 is now completely taken apart and I don't understand how to reconnect the new home button that I've bought on this site to replace the old, unresponsive button.

I think I have taken off the old one correctly but when doing so I didn't see exactly how it was connected. I tried reading on the forum to find an answer but since I don't know the name of the different parts I simply don't understand the jargon used...

How I see it is that I have a plastic flat flexible ribbon, at the tip of which are some metallic golden parts which must connect to the other metallic golden parts on the phone. However I don't understand if I am supposed to slide the ribbon in somewhere or just put it back on??

Now I'm starting to think it was a huge mistake trying to do that myself and that this very expensive phone is now dead for good... Help!! thank you. Vane

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

The charging port assembly has a small connector for the home button flex golden parts. The charging port connector has a small clamp which must be lifted, if you removed the old home button flex correctly it should be lifted already. Then carefully slide the flex golden parts into the connector, this is very tedious, so take your time, be careful, after it is inserted, you just push the clamp back down.

Thanks Brad. I think I slide the golden parts in the right place but I don't see what the clamp is... to me it looks like i didn't have to lift anything... I'm trying to put the !@#$ phone back together and will bring it to an Apple store... trying to do it myself wasn't a good idea... i would be surprised if it only starts when i'm done...
