Do rear panel screws have to be replaced to test battery

I've replaced the battery but it has no charge. While waiting to see if it charges (or if I have to fiddle with it) i don't want to replace the pentalobe screws, fearing I may only get one more chance to screw them in before they strip. As long as the rear panel is on the phone, does it have to be secured for the battery to charge?

Answer this question I have this problem too

No. The rear panel itself, does not need to be on to charge or even use the iPhone for testing purposes.
