Most likely is that Apple is no longer supporting your machine. Apple says that "end of life is about 6 years", and stop support for older machines and systems at that point.

No much you can do here. Apple hasn't updated the older OS's and most App vendors have likewise stopped updates for the older versions that run on the PowerPC CPU's
