Why won't my iMac boot?

For some reason my iMac won't boot up, it takes me into the gray screen, but then gives me the "Do not enter" sign. Any clues to why its doing that? any answers would be appreciated :)

Thank you, this helped out alot :D, I also have another question, I've been looking around and heard that this could be also caused by a failing harddrive? is this true?

by

Well to solve the problem, did you have to reinstall the OS? If so then its possible that your hard drive is failing. Run TechTool Deluxe (You can obtain it here: Download TechTool Deluxe) And run a test with a surface scan.
