How do I know which part to replace?

Hey there,

I am recently having trouble with my iPhone 5 and its vibration function. It will never vibrate. Not on texts, calls, even when I switch it from loud to vibrate... still nothing.

I do know that you can replace the vibrator within the iPhone however I also know that the audio control and power button cable is the same cable that enable the phone to vibrate.

My question is, how do you know whether to replace the cable or the vibrator?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hello Morgan!

First of all make sure your vibration function is enabled.

Go to Settings > Sounds and make sure Vibrate on ring and on silent are enabled.

Let me know if that works for you.

Hey there,

I have enabled the vibrate function in sounds and I have also tried resetting all settings to see if that would do anything.

Cheers,

Morgan

I have a similar issue

I believe it to be a hardware malfunction. When I press a vibrate sequence in the "Sounds" option in the settings, I can hear the clicking of signals being sent to the motor, but the motor is not firing. If I shake the phone gently it seems to reconnect the vibrator for a brief moment.

I have opened up my iPhone 5 and poked and prodded to no avail. I just need to know which connection is malfunctioning so I can hopefully fix it.
