trackpad and usb not working

recently my trackpad and usb stop working. i had been using a usb mouse until i got in a new track pad, istalled it and it still didnt work, it only responded to clicks. second the usb port works and stop until finally the one towards the back of the machine stopped working completely. i tired smc reset, pram reset and none of whch seemed to have any effect. i also tried booting in safe mode to ensure that there were no kernel issues and even in safe mode the devices are unresponsive. is there a fix for this?

First open it up and see if your battery is swollen, then let us know.

a new battery was purchased and installed and the usb port works and stops frequently after the installation of the new battery, a while after the usb stop working and still did not respond, also the trackpad did not work even with the installation of the new battery
