Ambient light sensor not working after power sensor cable replacement

My iPhone 4S power button went out and I decided to give replacing the power button cable assembly with sensor repair a try. Repair went very smoothly and I was thrilled with results! That being said, since the repair, I have had no luck with the ambient light sensor changing the screen brightness. All other sensors, including the proximity sensor work fantastically. Could it have been a problem with installation or is the sensor faulty? Thanks for the help in advance!

I'm having the same issue and can't find a solution. Alec, can you clarify exactly what you mean by the following?

"Try covering the prox/ambient light sensor up half way right above the ear speaker when you take the screen off."

What are we using to cover the sensor?

Black electrical tape works the best. It make it so not as much light gets to the sensor allowing it to work properly most of the time after using this electrical tape fix.

This typically happens when you replace the power button.. 3rd party prox flex's/ambient light sensors do not always work properly once they replace the old one. Try covering the prox/ambient light sensor up half way right above the ear speaker when you take the screen off. If this does not work then the prox flex (which it is typically referred to as) may be defective.
