iPod Touch as an external HD

hi!

Sorry of my poor knowledge but is there any way to make my iPodTouch 3G to appear in the desktop? like the old iPod video 5th gen. It's to use it like an external HD to store stuff.

thanks in advance!

I use AirSharing on my iPhone. It and other similar apps just use your phone as a drive on a wireless network, but then you can also view compatible files in the app as well (audio, video, mainstream documents, text). You can probably find a similar thing for free on the app store if you poke around.

A big disadvantage of the iPod Touch and iPhone is that for some reason, Apple does not want to let you use these devices as external hard drives, like you can with iPods. The closest you can get to doing this is jailbreaking your iPod Touch, at which point you can add and remove files from it by connecting to it via a wireless network.

I ran into this issue a year back or so. I found my solution through the use of an app for the iPod touch. This article shows you 6 options you can use, though I am not sure how up-to-date it is. Just know that it is possible, though through the use of apps.
