airport card not functioning

My laptop was giving boot up, shut down problems and it was heating up very fast. The wifi was not functioning at all. Initially I was told that the problem is with hard disk. Later on it was diagnosed that logic board is the problem. But now the technician says the airport card is the main culprit so he has disconnected it and now the boot up, shut down and heating problems are resolved. The laptop is functioning properly but I am without Wifi. Is it really possible that airport card can cause so much trouble? The technician says he is connects the airport card then the I will face the same problems again. Is he correct in his diagnosis? What is the best solution? If "Replace the card" then from where can I get genuine airport card with warranty.

Yes - (as proven) Unknown - You can find a card here or elsewhere. As a work around you could use a USB wireless dongle (but then that hangs out & has to be stored) however it might be a simpler, less expensive solution. Also depending upon where you are you might use a USB Ethernet dongle which would give you more bandwidth. Ensure that if you go this route there is OSX support (drivers).
