Is it possible to Completely remove the lcd

I have had a broken lcd for quite awhile and just used an external display. Recently i decided to just remove brokem lcd so i would be left with the bottom half of my mac plugged into an external monitor. I removed the top half, and now it wont give me any video on the external monitor. I tried re connecting the old one but no luck. What do i do?

Your right, i did leave it dangling. But ive kept at it and with the external monitor/startup disc im on the diskutility app not really getting anywhere.. So it does seem to have a bit of functionality.

My next question. Can i take the hdd and recover my music? I dont have another mac though

Sounds like you blew up the VGU/VGC. If you left cable dangling from the case it may have shorted out. The other possibility is that you damaged the video out port. Either would necessitate a logic board replacement to repair as neither are DIY sots of projects.

You files should be safe... but if you keep booting/crashing that drive they may not be. When you can't see what your doing you don't know if the MBD is damaged. Crashing out makes the MBD bad. When/if the MBD becomes damaged or corrupt no one can access the drive without for pay recovery software. If you do physical damage even that wont work 'You'll have to get access to drive from another machine. A Mac would be best... WinDUHows boxes do not like to play with Mac formats or files.
