Phone screen shows a vertical blue streak after cleaned water damage?

I equipped my phone with a lifeproof case (I suspect that was my first mistake) :( and proceeded to use it in a pool. Inevitably water leaked in and it died. I put it into a bowl of rice until a couple of days later when I cleaned the logic board with a toothbrush and solvent, I successfully removed all corrosion... at least I believe I did. Yet, my phone will now only show signs of life when it is plugged into a charger, and still it only shows the time and percentage of battery life on the top of the screen. The rest of the screen is black except for a dark blue vertical streak. I think the battery is fine but I will soon install one that I know for a fact works, but still does it make sense that my phone would show signs of life with a battery problem? Any ideas on what would be the culprit of the elusive blue streak? Please Help!!

your lcd is bad... streaks are usually a sign of dead or or damaged pixels... and if it is only showing part of the display, the rest of the screen is damaged and cannot display and therefore that blue streak is just damaged pixels that are fortunate to still display color...

Wes, besides having a possibly damaged LCD, "only show signs of life when it is plugged into a charger" I strongly recommend that you replace the battery. Those batteries are smart batteries and do a whole lot more than just store energy. Replace the battery, double check your work about cleaning your phone. Use this guide to clean your phone. It was written for a 3G but everything still applies to your phone as well. Also, pay close attention to your dock connector, check for corrosion, bend or broken pins.

Thanks! for the help, as for my phone, I recleaned it last night and replaced the battery this morning. Its getting better :) the screen now displays correctly save for some huge water marks. But the problem now is that it still won't hold a charge (I will inspect the connection for the connector), and it can't find a signal. Any further help would be really appreciated!
