switching out a HDD from MacBook 2009 to a MacBook Pro

Hi

I have a mac book a1181 from 2006, and now a mac book pro from 2011.

The hard drive in the '06 is much better (232gb updated in 2011) and full of applications i want to keep.

I recently acquired a macbook pro, but its HDD is only 160gb. I want to switch out the HDDs

is this possible? Will I be able to run the same applications?

will there be trouble with the software? - its all stored in the CPU right?

please let me know

You may want to upgrade to a newer still bigger drive here Vs upgrading to a larger yet older drive than what you currently have.

A 1TB drive is not that expensive and worth having all of the extra space not so much for apps & data but for the system to have a scratch space.

OK, now you have this HD with all of this stuff can you migrate the files over, Yes! You can, get an external case or adapter to connect to your system and copy them over. OR if you have a second system use the target mode and migration assistant app to move everything over.
