iPhone 4S - No Service but carriers show?

Guys,

I've had problems fixing a 4S a friend gave me. I'd love to get it back to working order as cosmetically it is brand new, and everything except the signal works great.

It was dropped, I repaired the screen, camera and swapped the battery. Its was locked to (3) UK, I got it unlocked with a code.

It is now just stuck on 'searching' or 'no service'.

When I goto Settings > Carrier, I can press 'manual' and the services show, which makes me think that there isn't any major problem. However, even if I select the network, it still shows no service.

If somebody can help me out it'd be much appreciated, be happy to throw them some paypal their way.

EDIT - Ive just taken it into town and it came up with FULL SIGNAL for around 2 mins, then went back to no signal. Does anybody know what the problem is?

Ive tried setting the date and time. They are set correctly, set to automatic. Is that right? Or is there a trick to it? Any other ideas people?

Thanks, but the date trick did not work on this one. I have added an EDIT into my post on what happened today. Any other ideas? Thanks

Just had the same problem on my 4s now for the last week. Just reset network settings and problem solved ... Mobile signal returned. I had to set up my wifi password again but otherwise all good.

Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

got the same problem with my 4s.

just "searching" or "no Service"

Carriers are shown when switched to manual... so i guess it finds the network but couldn´t or won´t log in... don´t know.

are there any new suggestions for this problem?

it runs with ios7

Does anybody has the answer? i'm having the same problem manual carrier selection shows list of available carriers i tick my simcard carrier done but no service and not even a single bar of signal, soon it shows me my network lost..help please

have you tried changing the speaker at the bottom as the antenna is connected to it , or make sure the cable is seated properly could possible be that ,

Have you guys checked IMEI number to see if it is blocked?

i have checked the cellular antenna cable is seated properly, imei is clean also, i cannot even dial emergency number, restore normal dfu and recovery still i cannot get even one signal

ive done the exact same changed antenna , check imei , i get ee signal , 3g/4g but cant dial out etc , this a joke , i have a apple brick
