the whole top part of my ipod screen is gone. there was a tag near the camera with numbers on it. im guessing it was the sensor because some one pulled it out and it was not responding to any touch, I want to just replace the screen but is there any way they can fix that when they replace it?

Yes, the digitizer is broken. Replace the display assembly.
