trying to connect it with hdmi due to ruined screen

my mac is in pieces (open) and when i connect it to my tv screen through an hdmi cable, a folder with a question mark appears. The screen is not connected.

Options

That symbol means the EFI software can't locate a boot volume (system folder). You need to also connect a HD or Optical drive with an OS on it to have the computer finish booting.
