iMac restarts on its own

Hi, I have an Intel iMac 20" with the Snow leopard installed. It works great, but sometimes when I'm doing something that pushes harder the iMac will restart on its own (for example, when I'm playing a video game or watching videos). Does anybody know what the problem is?

Cheers

You either have an intel iMac or a lower operating system. The G5 will not take Snow Leopard. Check under the Apple in the upper left hand corner with "about this Mac" to see what you have. Please give us the last three figures of your serial number for machine identification.

Does the iMac get excessively hot when it restarts? Computers are designed to shut down when they reach a certain temperature threshold. Check the temperature using a program like iStat Menus or smcFanControl.

If it's getting too hot, you should use an air compressor or similar tool to blow out any dust. If that doesn't work, you might want to replace the thermal paste.

Considering you have an old computer, you might want to downgrade to 10.4 if none of this helps.

hi the temperature is normal, it happens when im seeing a movie, i´ve read that these Imac have some problems in Power Supply, i+ve got this Imac for some 4 years, the termal paste its a good idea and a cheep one, a power supply for this imac is around 120$ , too expensive for the imac in question, If é downgrade , when i can get the software to do that?
