iPhone opened up BY ITSELF after sitting on amplifier

I was using my iPhone 3GS as an iPod, permanently hooked up to my stereo system amplifier. The iPhone was resting on top of the amp for an extended period. All of a sudden one day, it cracked open, with the screen lifting up and away from the innards. The screen itself is not cracked or broken, but is now tilted up from one end at a 30-degree angle. It will not go back down--it seems as though something inside has expanded or bent upwards. WTF? What the heck could be going on, and is it fixable? Thanks in advance...

Your battery has most likely gone bad and is swelling. Either that or you have a poltergeist. I'd put my money on the battery. Here's how to replace it: iPhone 3GS Battery Replacement
