How do you attach the HD heat sensor

I just ordered a heat sensor for a new hard drive for my 24" intel mac. Ive been told it just sticks on. How is this done? A used one is coming so Im imagining any sticky surface on its back is no longer usable. Should I buy an adhesive for this kind of application? Thanks

Thank you. I thought a tech site would appear. This is very interesting. After replacing a logic board, microphone, hard drive and now the heat sensor, this tempers some of the frustration. I'm learning.
