My iMac is dead

I was working with my iMac and suddenly after a brief noise, it turned off and i cannot turn it on again. I felt a burning smell.

Can it be the power supply?

How can I be sure?

If it smells like burn, it could well be a blown power supply. In most cases when a power supply fails, it won't damage the board or other components. I would suggest you get a PS tester, but, if it is a one time use it would be cheaper to get another PS. Try Amazon, that way if it's not a power supply issue you can send it back without a bunch of hassless less the shipping costs.
