Does this display certainly need replacement LCD?

There was a pretty ugly coffee spill... The only remaining symptom is the display.

No problem seeing the complete screen in screen sharing but I haven't hooked up an external display for a test yet.

One tech told me it was the display (not the video) but I'd like to confirm this if possible.

NOTE: Photo is upside down! Sorry I couldn't get to go in right side up.

Thanks!

Glossy LCD? - I'm assuming you've replaced the lcd before?

but as far as it goes, it looks like the LCD needs replacement. Could be the video but unlikely. You'd have to connect to external to test.

The sure-fire quick test is connect to an external. . . no problems it's in the internal display chain... problems it's the VGU (VGC).. FIW you're not "seeing" the screen in screen sharing, just the data that would be displayed.

Thanks! I will check with external display before ordering a replacement.

I'm guessing that it's the video card since the coffee didn't spill up. It might be the display, but I hope you had someone dismantle the entire computer and scrub all the coffee gunk off it so it doesn't develop corrosion over the next few weeks. Just my opinion from experience, but the display isn't usually the victim from spills onto the keyboard (if that is what happened).
