would using denatured alcohol work after I fried the board?

I did the same exact thing as keriwgd though I gave my mbp more time to dry out. I reassembled it after wiping it dry and letting sit and then it worked great for about 2 months when the battery stopped charging from the magsafe adapter and then just wouldn't work with just the adapter. Apple said need a new logic board. My question is - would doing the preventative steps of using denatured alcohol even work after I fried the board?

"preventative steps" is something we need to do to avoid a catastrophic failure:-) Just like mayer said in his answer, right now you really have nothing to lose. The issue at hand may be corrosion damage. I would strongly suggest to remove the logic board and immerse it in 90%+ isopropyl alcohol and clean it with a soft brush. You may have to clean it a few times. Check for any burned looking or missing components. After that reassemble is access for any further damage.r

Isopropyl alcohol is perfect when there's corrosion on the board but when it's a fresh spill of coke, juice, coffee, etc, I prefer immerse the board in hot water with dishwashing detergent. Just let the board soak half an hour then clean it with a soft plastic brush (thootbrush or something bigger). Don't flex the board while you clean it and once it's clean rinse it with demineralized treated water, use a bottle spray and rinse the board vertically so all the washing residues evacuate the board. You'll see, with this method the board is just like new. Use a hot air gun to dry the logic board or let it dry vertically positionned in a warm and dry room for a day or two. I justed cleaned 35 Macbook A1342 liquid spilled logic boards with this procedure and many of them just powered on and worked OK once installed in the Mac.

Thanks for the advice. I'll post when I clean it up and let you know whether or not it worked for me. Fingers crossed.

There's no way for us to tell the extent of your damage but it might help, what have you got to lose now?
