top heating elements stopped working

I have a very old B&D TRO (no number after the TRO), and love it but it is probably on its last legs. The two top heating elements have stopped working and I'm wondering if there is a fuse somewhere I can check or did they come lose, or if it is time to get a new toaster oven. Thanks for your help!

While doing a search for this I noted the prices. This one runs $17.13. Parts to fix yours may run much more than this, so its something to think about before attempting a repair: http://salestores.com/blackdeckert.html?...

If you have a volt/ohm meter check continuity. unplug first. if you have continuity look for broken wire going to element. if element looks like solid rod these are called calrod elements. to fix this you need new element and a special hi temp connector. you might buy this from a repair shop. question is would it be cheaper to replace than fix. If its a glass element similar fix.

Hope this helped

Some of the new toaster ovens have a non stick coating that is Not allowed in California. So I would like to replace the elements on mine. Space is also a problem for me.

The "calrod element" in our old B&D TRO 360 TY6 is broken in one spot as in cracked in half. It doesn't work of course. I've seen other calrod elements for other brands and models of toaster ovens but so far haven't found the correct one for my model of B&D. It's the one that hangs under the counter. Any suggestions for suppliers that might have the correct part for this model? Thank you.

In addition,...since "the virus" prices on many things have skyrocketed. I am trying to replace my Microsoft "Ergonomic" 4000 keyboard which used to be $50,....now they've shot up to $130, then $150, then $190+ etc., etc. Outrageous price gouging. I guess they stopped making that model.

I am a longtime fan of B&D toaster ovens. I have two right now which the top elements have burned out. After reading more about it, I believe it was caused by using tinfoil over food I didnt want to burn. This reflects heat back onto the upper heating elements and eventually destroys them, even if broil mode isnt used. The owners manuals tell you not to use tinfoil in them, so I believe this was the cause.

Unfortunately, the elements are almost impossible to replace, as the internal electrical connections are welded in place after the oven is assembled, You can’t use solder as the oven heat would eventually melt it. Crimping is another option, but nearly impossible to get access to adequately crimp. My plan was to rob the good lower elements from one of the units and put them in the top of the other, but it is a very challenging fix.

Mine has the same problem - the top burner is dead. If I got a new one, I would need it to be 7.5" in height or less (to fit under my cabinet and above my microwave). I have only found used ones on ebay, but they are close to $100 (with shipping). Any suggestions on how to fix the heating element?

Thanks!

There are very few ones that I found on eBay that were even close to $100. Do a search for "Black and Decker Toast R Oven". Try Walmart if shipping is a concern. http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng....

There are some of that model on line or ebay that are now about $300. Outrageous. Scandalous. Shameful.
