No power - no green or orange light changed dc-in

I have a A1278 Macbook, have no power (no green or orange light on power adapter). The magsafe adapter is good and just changed the DC-in still no power, any suggestions on what might be wrong or tests I can do?

I just had a customer with this issue yesterday. Same symptoms. Changed the battery and all was well. It kind of surprised me.

Shouldn't the unit power up with no battery

No, some times they require a working battery.

Went tp apple store - computer will boot up with a new battery but still no lights on the power cord - not charging and nor will it power on with AC alone? For 1 minute today I got a green light. Does this imply a magsafe DC-in problem or logic board - any way to diagnose
