Repalcing heating element in base

I have an older Farberware 12 cup Superfast Percolator Model 142 that I have to replace the heating element in. I have it apart and am wondering if I need something to seal the element & nut to prevent leaking or is the pressure of the nut enough against the base?

I have the new heating element installed. I have tightened the nut in side the pot as much as I can and I am still getting some moisture in the base after the boiling cycle. I don't see water dripping but moisture is present after each new pot of water boiled. Any ideas for sealing this? I am guessing the water is getting in form the pot.

Bill Heaton, "the gasket is just a compression fit and it goes UNDER the pot. The gasket is the warmer element holder and also holds the pin terminal assy. It is aluminum and rectangular,"
