iMac 27" A1311 will not boot to OS Tiger DVD

The hard drive was replaced in my imac 27". Now I get the flashing question mark. I tried booting from the DVD/CD drive using OS 10.4 but it would not see the disk. Tried holdlng "c" down, nothing, Holding option, nothing.

I can however boot to the linux Ubuntu 10.1 disk with no problem and install the OS Ubuntu with no problem...what gives ?

Options

No Mac will boot from a system that is lower than what it shipped with. The 2011 27" shipped with 10.6.6. Call Apple and give them the serial number and they will ship you the original system installation disk for $16 plus tax and shipping.

seems to be a non-compatible hard drive or may be due to wrong connections. Try to re-plug the hard drive and other connections on your Mac then start again.
