How can I update without locking my phone?
I have an AT&T phone unlocked and jailbroken currently use with T-mobile. I was told not to update to the latest software
so not to lock the phone

If u update using Itunes, u will loose the jailbreak and in turn loose ur unlock. However, there are real cheap ways to unlock AT&T phone. Check ebay or other websites, they are real cheap and most of them are done in a couple of days, so after that u dont have to worry or pay for a jailbreak. Write back on what u did. Good luck.
