touch screen no longer reacts to touch

Just read about your website in the paper, so I want to give this a try. We have an Ipod Touch 2nd generation that stopped working a little over a year ago. It would no longer react to touch. As we had password protection on the device, it was impossible to start the device. The Ipod Touch was in a humid environment (my son took it in the bathroom while he was taking a shower), but it did not get immersed in water.

What route of action do you recommend for repairing this item?

Thank you!

Beate D, sounds like a few things that could be going on here. The very first fix I suggest is to replace the digitizer. Follow this guide. The front panel is available right here as well as many other places. As for the humidity, once you work on the iPod to replace the digitizer, clean all the parts with 90+percent isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush. The only other thing I would definitely replace, is the battery. Hope this helps, good luck and Merry Christmas
