new screen does not solve problem

Son rolled onto computer while sleeping, cracking screen. Could use machine when connected to external display. Local tech suggested a new screen which we purchased from ifixit. Tech installed screen and it "opens" when machine powers on - but screen continuously "flashes" and there is a single line running vertically. I can see desktop info but the continuous flashing make it most difficult to read. Some of the flashing shows different colors.

local tech did not change Display Data Cable. Took machine to Apple store today and they were indignant in saying I violated their protocols by having a non-Apple tech repair it. Said to buy a new machine.

I can view desktop info, but machine continuously flashes. Can view everything fine when connected to external monitor/tv. Should I have local tech change Display Data Cable?

This seems a little weird. Generally if you replace the screen with a good quality all issues go away.

Do you still get picture through external?

Have you tried to:

1) Turn off computer. Press and hold the power button till the machine beeps and led on the front flashes.

2) Turn off computer. Press the power button and as soon as you let go of the power button press and hold the letters Option+Command+P+R. It should make the chime sound again.

If it still does not work there's gonna be another issue and you should take it to another tech. IMO it sounds like this tech has no idea what he's doing. A professional should be able to tell you what the problem is weather it's a logic board, cable, or LCD problem.

Try posting a video of what it's doing.
