Damage after being thrown against ground very forcibly

Help! My son's Ipod is not functioning after it was thrown against the ground. We do not have a tech were we live to get it fixed. It will not turn on at all. Where do I start to diagnose the problem. Thank you in advance for your help.

Does it still get recognized? Any visual external damage? Have you tried a reset yet? How did you try to turn it on? what else have you tried?

And another good place to start is to go through the 585 solutions to the right of your question. Good luck.

it does not recognize . the screen is coming off to where i can see the external components and a couple things inside are not connected to the iPod. By the way Bruno, it was not my son who smash it, (he loves it too much) it was my husband (ex-military) who has extremely upset at him.

Alma, I think the first thing I would do is to not connect it. If the parts are not properly aligned and you see the inside of it, it may lead to more damage. I suggest something like this this guide or the teardown found on here. Evaluate the damage as you disassemble the iPod. Remember to take your time, not to get frustrated and really study the guides. All parts are available and it's not the end of the iPod yet. Hope this helps, good luck.

I don't think there's a fix for puberty yet. As for the iPod: make sure the battery is charged, so hook it up to the charger for a couple of hours. If the iPod by then still doesn't show a sign of life, then you could try a reset by holding power and home button for about 10 seconds. If a reset doesn't work a service center might be able to repair it.
