How to change the logic board?

Hi!

I need to change the logic board on my 2009 iMac because the connector that goes from the logic board to the lcd cable is broken. Pins are missing and its rather fraglige. So What I need to do is change it, put in a 180 GB SSD (Hope it never dies) and then never open up the iMac ever again, cause that connection is horrible.

But my question is? What parts in the iMac do I need to take out for the logic board to come out?

I will be following this guide:

iMac Intel 27" EMC 2309 and 2374 Teardown

I will also follow other guides from youtube. But I have not found a guide about this for my late 2009 iMac. They are rather diffrent on the inside, all the Intel iMacs.

Anynoe? :)

That is what I will do. Take it easy is the most important thing I think. Alltohouth is rather annoying that the whole logic board needs to be changed just because that one connector. I will have the guides on pictures on my 42" TV while working. So hopefully it would work.

I asked this question to save time during the process and to not haft to unplug things that are not needed.

Hello Linn, The teardown is very useful and I would add to it the repair guide for your unit. Link included. Essentially you must remove everything from the logic board to replace it--study the guides carefully and work slowly and you should be ok. Pay special attention to the cpu replacement as it shows you the majority of items to be removed. Good luck, Ralph
