no signal and the controllers do not register

Ok my ps3 did the same thing it swithces on ok lights and sound that it makes are fine, but no signal and the contrlers do not register the ps3 when you press the button they flash and thats all, i have tried to re set the video settings, aslo tried all hdmi ports, and changing to the cables for av, still nothing has happened, it worked fine one minuite then asked to update when i looked again, no signal registered wtf!!! I have had it 6 years now or so never had problem with it but now this, anyother sugestions apart from all the others every one seems to give? And before you ask about changing the ps3 settings i need to see the screen to do so. Thanks all
