LCD works but no backlight?

I have a MacBook with slight water damage that works perfectly through a CRT, I had it apart, had another MacBook and changed the screens out. What I found was that both the LCDs are perfectly fine, but I am not getting any backlight. I thought it may be the cable, but both cables won't backlight the screen. Should I buy another and try again, or do you think the logic board could be toast?

I looked for signs of damage, but like i said, it fires up just fine, works just like it should, except for the backlight. there seems to be a bit of carbon spotting(?) on the cable, and right at the connection.

Just wanted some opinions on what I should do next.

If nothing else, where is a good place to sell these other than ebay?

Bad Inverter?

thought i read that these don't have an inverter... where would it be located?

It might be an LED display, and not have a backlight inverter, I didn't think of that.

The inverter is located beneath the LCD display. once you remove the top with the LCD from the rest of the laptop you will be able to slide the black part over a little to the right and then pop it off with a little force. There is a Wifi/blue tooth adapter and the inverter under there.
