How do I rustproof my car for long term?

I bought a car that has very litle rust protection underneath (toyota yaris 2009) and I want to do something to protect it from rust. I heared there are rustproofing methods that help protecting the car many years. Is there one that can be done at home?

Not on a car that age. To rustproof a car it must be completely clean and dry. You could steam clean the bottom first, but there's already rust forming from moisture in cracks, derbies forced into crevices and road nicks over the miles driven in the previous 3 years.

You can still attempt to rustproof the car.. (basically you're sealing the bottom in tar)

A good underbody wash several times a year may do as much.
