Yes - but it's not an easy repair. It might be faster and easier for a newby DIY to just replace the entire top case.

Purchase the required tools - here or elsewhere, any job is easier when you have the proper tools.

Hi I just replaced my keyboard on this same model because of spill damage. It took me about 3 hrs and lots of screws, lot of screws. I think they're #00 not too hard to get out except the ones screwed into the aluminum. The keyboard ( which included power button) and backlight works perfectly EXCEPT the power button. Apparently liquid damage screwed up the SMC controls. I would reset it but Apple has made it so you can only reset the SMC USING THE POWER BUTTON. I know it's a SMC problem because the fan is running high and trackpad is clicking and not scrolling. I have been searching for a point on the logic board to reset the SMC or even through a terminal command ( You can reset PRAM this way. So while I agree with you should probably just buy the topcase instead of the keyboard... Keyboard was $50 topcase was $100. Keep in mind both of those options might not solve you're problem...unless you are able to power on your computer using your power button . Then you should be fine. If you can't, and are currently hard starting your computer through the pins on logic board near the keyboard connector...save your money just buy the keyboard. Or depending on water damage, if it's minimal you can pop off the keys and clean them with rubbing alcohol. If you get crazy you can dissemble your computer and clean from the back of your keyboard. If Machead or anyone could help me with my SMC problem I would appreciate it. I will ask in another forum but just wanted to warn you of this SMC problem, I don't think there is an answer and it's pretty frustrating Apple made this model this way. Anyways, good luck!
