My fan is running at a high speed

So I turn the ps3 on after about 10 secs or so my fan speeds up like a jet engine then my ps3 powers down and blinks red

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is the console placed in a well vented area were it can not overheat?

Yea it is. It only turns on for a sec. I did the reflow and was going to use articl 5 thermal paste instead of the cheap stuff
