My Problem

This was a simple fix of the glass being broken.

My Fix

I bought the replacement glass. I thought it was strange that the adhesive didn't come with it. Anyway, after replacing the glass, the digitizer didn't work. It appeared that the cables didn't come with the pads that keep them in place. So I was attempting to solve that when I apparently clobbered the LCD. Now the screen was blank white with a few streaks of red and blue. So, I ordered the display assembly with glass, LCD, and digitizer. Now the screen is black. When I tried the original parts, the screen is black also. I've purchased a used iPhone (from Ebay. Still waiting) to test the parts against.

My Advice

For a quick fix that I've done a few time before, this one turned sour. But, my motto is "never say die". I will follow up when I get the used iPhone.

The home button on the phone was not working.

My Fix

the repair went a bit bananas at the begining. I replace the part and one of the internal cables was not doing good contact so i could not use the slide functionality on the screen. I reopen the iphone and connect carefully the cables again. Then it works.

Iphone 3g works like new.

I can see that the screen is not the same type as the original one but it work so i will survive.

iPhone shared but, returned destroyed… It come back entirely striped and dug by shock. And fissured screen.

I entirely dismounted it and reassembled, without any problem.

The problem is solved, it acted as you said, it was a simple problem of connection.

had a shattered glass panel, tried to fix it with some cheap replacement piece of **** i bought from ebay resulting in corrupting the entire display. ordered the display assembly got it 2 (!) days later and replaced it - problem solved.

My Problem

Battery life was fading after 2 1/2 years of service. And the other Iphone had a malfunctioning display (pixellines)

My Fix

Replaced battery on one Iphone 3G and display assembly on another. All went flawlessly thanks to the great write up!

Ended up with one extra screw that fell out of one of the Iphones. There aren't any missing so I suppose this one rolled around somewhere in the enclosure...

My Advice

For easy reassembly I printed out the layout with the location of the screws and placed every removed screw on the layout in the spot on the picture where it came out of the iphone.
