My Problem
my fans were going out. i looked on line . You had the best web site to find the correct parts, very easy. I put them in and it works would I do it again? I'm a construction worker for 40 years and my hands are not what they used to be. It was simple, but I'm better built for fixing a 50 ton piece of equipment. Thank you
My Fix
It took about an hour, and it works.
My Advice
Buy a small screw driver set and take your time. The clips that hold the wires in place are piece of crap be careful. I work on $800,000 dollar heavy equipment they each have 6 computers on them, there more complicated but easier to change parts. Small hands are a plus. It's not for everyone. Remember that computer costs $1800. dollars. A computer store will fix it for under $200. dollars.
My Problem
Replace noisy MacBook Pro fan
My Fix
After receiving the second #00 screwdriver (first one was defective) it went smoothly
My Advice
Follow directions and it should go well
My Problem
Had fan noise from both left and right fans. It was driving me crazy all the time.
My Fix
The repair was straightforward
My Advice
Keep careful track of the screws as you take the case apart.
My Problem
The right fan on my mac was making a loud sound and stopped working.
My Fix
The repair was quick and painless. Less than 20 minutes to take apart, replace fan and put back together thanks to the easy to follow guides by ifixit
My Advice
Make sure to check the correct model number for device as all the fans do not have the same connectors. Also need a small amount of electrical tape
My Problem
The fans had started making some noise, showing signs of giving up. I had long wanted to replace the HD for a bigger one but dreaded what looked like a difficult replace operation. With the fans about to bite the dust, I had the proper motivation to go ahead.
My Fix
Overall very well. The upper case was the most difficult one to open up. It was a little bent from the years of use and I had to resort to mild violence when prying the front open. I broke a piece of the plastic frame in the process.
My Advice
Don't hesitate to repair your out of warranty Mac yourself. With the excellent guides from iFixit, you cannot go wrong. And get the spudger! I couldn't have done the repair without it.
My Problem
My right fan was making the craziest noise i've heard technology has ever made. I felt like it was going to create a black hole and it just came out of no where. It just happened all of a sudden and i'm figuring that it is from aging.
My Fix
When I took my mac apart at first, I was pretty nervous because I've never done it. But it looked easy enough from the video and sure enough it was simple and made me feel like an engineer for a few minutes. :] I unscrewed all the nails, replaced the fan, and screwed everything back together!
My Advice
MAKE SURE YOU ORDER THE RIGHT MODEL NUMBER AND DO NOT GO BY THE PICTURE. because like an idiot, I ordered the right fan for the A1150 Model at first because I was too lazy to look for the model number and went by the picture. I couldn't stand the fan of death any longer so I immediately ordered the right fan for the correct model number (A1211) and it worked like a charm.
My Problem
For a while there had been a noise coming from the right side of my MBP. It got to the point of at times sounding like a blender.
My Fix
I have replace the hard drive before so I was familiar with the tear down process of the MPB. With the instructions found on iFixit the process when very smoothly and I was up and running quietly in less than 30 minutes.
My Advice
Print out and follow the instructions, make sure you have the correct tools. It is really pretty easy and don't be intimated by the insides, take your time.
My Problem
It's 2012 - 2 gigs of RAM just isnt enough. So I did the best I could and upped my computer to its max of 3 gigs.
My hard drive wasn't showing any signs of failure, but since I was doing some computer surgery, I figured it would be a good time to go from a 120 gig 5400 rpm to a 500 gig 7200 rpm hybrid drive.
My fans - well, they could be heard from down the street they became so noisy and inefficient.
My Fix
It took me about one hour to replace everything. With all of the tools I needed and the detailed guides, it couldn't have gone smoother!
My Advice
Repairs on a laptop - not so tough when you have detailed instructions on what you're looking to do!
My Problem
Right side of my laptop was making a loud noise after it had been on and warmed up. The local apple store wanted a few hundred dollars to fix this.
My Fix
The online guides were amazing. Step by step. I even managed to put it back together!
My Advice
Fix everything yourself.
