Water spill, thermal sensor, kernel_task, oh no.
2 weeks ago: spilled a small amount of water on keyboard. Immediately flipped upside down, shut down, partially disassembled, removed battery, left to dry in the sun for a couple of days.
Moment of truth, tested, hardware boot test passed, and the OS was working, all was good.
Flash forward to today, wake up from sleep mode to find a very slow mac, saw kernel_task using most of it, almost impossible to use, had to force shutdown. Hardware test again, this time the error code returned was:
4SNS/1/C0000008: TP0P--124
How sad.
So now I seek advice from the counsel of of experts. Please advise on the next steps I should take.

Edit: I have tried disconnecting the airport card, track pad, and CD-drive, keyboard, microphone, Webcam, everything except the storage and battery, as some others with this same problem reported that's all it was, like a messed up airport cable, however the problem persists even with all these things disconnected.
I'll add some more photos of the board. Tell me if you see anything obvious. (full album here: https://imgchest.com/p/dl7pj6aop7o)
Update: can't see any corrosion but atttempted a cleaning of the logic board with cotton Q-tips and alcohol. No difference 😔.

Full list of bad temp sensor data:
TP0P: PCH Proximity
Th1H: Heatpipe 2
Ts0S: Memory Proximity
Now maybe that can help narrow down where the damage is. If more alcohol cleaning doesn't fix it, well I don't know how to SMD solder...
Is this a good question?

@breathlungs since this has been brought on by water damage, you do want to remove the logic board and clean it. Use some high concentration isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush to clean your board. It is possible that this is a true error brought on by the sensor Before it's cleaned, take some good pictures of it, both sides, and post those with your question. That way we can hopefully "see" where there might be a damaged component etc.

Certainly will do, give me some time. (I still have nightmares about that keyboard's ZIF connector...)
Do you know which temperature sensor TP0P is referring to?

@breathlungs that is your Platform Controller Hub sensor and if I remember right it is on the top side of teh board (The side that faces the keyboard :-)

@oldturkey03 photos added to post, along with an edit of some of additional steps tried. When looking at the board, I'm not sure what to look for, but the only thing I see is some slight discoloration on the airport cable (though disconnecting that made no difference) and then possible something on the DC-in board, but it could also be just dust. I cleaned both but no dice.

I know it's an older machine but these 2010-2012 MBPs are great, and I'm not in a position to buy a new one, so hoping to repair it it. Maybe some greys like @danj can take a whack at it. 🙂
