I think a capacitor fell off

So basically,

My Mac mini has a dead gpu. No way to switch to HD 3000 because the ssd I have runs windows 10 and there is no image. Something was like rolling in the Mac mini so I decided to let it fall out and sure enough, it was maybe a capacitor. Is this capacitor important? I don’t have soldering kits. I need a fix for this.

Note: capacitor says 1R0 206 PS0

Thanks ifixit.

Edit:

Basically if it’s powered on, fan will start and no boot chime and no display, then it would probably shut down after 15 secs

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

This looks more like an inductor than a capacitor, the "1R0" marking probably indicates this is a 1uH inductor, but I'm not sure where it came from / what the direct replacement is. If you want to fully disassembly the machine, you could probably look around on the logic board for the area that this came from. Inductors like this are normally used for power regulation and / or filtering, it would probably be near the power input to the logic board.

Assuming the part is intact (it would help to see a picture of the bottom to confirm) it's not actually that hard to solder something like this back on. A small "tap" with a soldering iron on both contacts while you hold it in place with tweezers should do it. You might not even need to add more solder.

I put the origin in the question. Please look at it and see what I can do about it.

Without soldering tools you may be stuck. This could be a relatively easy job for an electronics repair specialist if you have access to one locally, but there's still no guarantee that it will solve the issues you're experiencing with the machine. The lack of inductor could have no impact on the machine, but it could also cause issues with one or multiple power rails.

@notveryexperien - Chris is correct this is an inductor. You may need some help here as often the solder pads get damaged so one needs to patch things together.

1R0 would indicate it is a 1Ω high wattage (maybe 4W) resistor. That would place it in a power circuit, and that would definitely stop your device.
