Hi @mayer

From what I know thunderbolt 2 is only really useful if your using it with things from around its time,so like you said it’s pretty useless nowadays but here’s what I am aware of that can be adapted into

HDMI

VGA

USB

Ethernet/LAN

Audio

DVI

There’s probably a few more but these are the ones that I am aware of and that are most common:-)

Hopefully this helps

Any questions please ask

Thanks:-)

What about FireWire ? I know it’s old technology but I am still using it :)

@roboscrap

I was thinking about that one,I still use it myself but I was unsure whether to put it on the list because of the different types as I didn’t know if all the versions could be adapted

It’s definitely there though:-)

Sadly, @mayer they are limited to Thunderbolt 1 or 2 drives DVD, HDD or SSD. I have two RAID cases which I use One is populated with HDD's and the other is with SSD's.

You can also plug in a 27" Thunderbolt display or two, or a miniDisplayPort display or TB/mDP adapter for a VGA display. There were some external GPU units which mostly failed as they just couldn't get the needed I/O throughput they needed.

When Apple moved to the USB-C connection with Thunderbolt3 and now 4 with the newer Mac's TB1/2 systems where left in the dust. Even still nothing has really changed.

Guess I can't use my ADB keyboards or my SCSI drives either. I spent most of the last three days working on an MDD and trying to get a System 9 blessed and running. I saw where they've come out with an APP for system 8, but really wish one would come out with one for 9, then I could move some of my 9 customers into newer machines.

I was lucky! I was able to get a SCSI to USB adapter (USB3.0) not many made.

While I can't get the throughput I was able to unload my older drives which had some important stuff.
