The ram isn’t detected in slot 0

No matter what I try, I cant get any ram to read to read from slot0. BUT, It does read from slot1. I got it 2nd hand as working, but when I got it, it beeped at me. I swapped the original ram into slot1, and it worked.

Would this be a MoBo issue, or something else? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, Soup

What is the specs of the SO-DIMM's you bought?

This series can only support a max of 6.0 GB so will encounter issues if you try to install 8 GB of RAM (two 4 GB SO-DIMMs).

Try one 4.0 GB SO-DIMM alone in Slot-0 did that work? Then put in one 2.0 GB SO-DIMM in Slot-1

I only have two 1gb sticks and one 2gb stick. All of them work in slot1, none work in slot0.

I bought the 2gb IFixit ram for this iMac.

@soup244 - Well, I guess you'll need to get a 4 GB SO-DIMM and just live with the single socket.

Yeah, guess you’re right. Thanks.
