Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter. Hold the start button for 10 seconds. Replace the AC adapter and try to start without the battery. Please tell us if it does anything, makes any sounds or any lights, thanks.

try to power it on without the battery - does it react in any way ?
i would try the opposite of that too - try to power on the computer without the magsafe connector.
when you press the button on the battery - are the lights showing anything?
as mayer asked before - any lights, any sound - anything ???

Hello,
You are not alone. I closed the lid (sleep) yesterday morning before breakfast, and after it didn't wake up any more. I did shut it down and now it won't start up any more.
When I power it up, front (lid lock button) led goes on, I can hear DVD init, but then - nothing. Blank screen, no grey background, no boot-up sound, nothing. Really frustrating!
Let me know how how it goes.

hello guys i think you have to send your Mac to the apple care shop because this is not some regular fix.
You might need to replace the NVidia card which is also built on board and this should also mean that its going to be the whole mother board. Thus gonna be quite expensive , so its better to send it to any closest Apple Care shop to get the part replaced rather than trying to amend your board in some way which might not help in the long run ...i'll be sending mine to the Apple shop here in Ghana so i'll keep any news up and posted thanks for reading again guys i really appreciate it .

1.unplug the AC adapter
2.turn the mbp on
3.leave it on, until it turns off because of no battery
4.plug the AC adapter
5.wait until magsafe light is green (full charge)
6.turn it on
it work for me, but in the next restart it failed again, but at least you have the opportunity to do something.

Daniel, I had the same problem with my macbook pro, does`t turn on after sleep mode...I have tried all the troubleshoot options....lid light stays on, blank black screen...etc...
why don't you start your own question and get some up to date help? this question was started in July 2010.. there are plenty of very clever people who work on these machines who may be able to help you troubleshoot and repair your device. Just click on ask a question and put as much information as you can in...

"If you want your MacBook to wake from sleep when you open the lid of the machine, all you need to do is
launch the Terminal and type the following command
pmset -g profiles
see if
lidwake 1
if 0
it is disable"
sudo pmset lidwake 1
makes it enable.
I was having problems with my Macbook not waking after 10 min of sleep. Looked everywhere and found this on the web and applied it to my mac.
Now works when I open it form sleep. ONE happy lady. wanted to share
maybe it will help others with 'won't wake after sleep mac's.
