LCD display is dim at top (see pic) pbg4
Hi,
My 15" 1.0 ghz powerbook lcd display is showing some darkness or dimming at only the top 1/3 of the screen. The screen is still viewable and the performance of the machine is not impacted, but I'm wondering if you have any suggestions? Inverter, Cable, Backlight, or altogether LCD screen ?
I've linked some actual images taken from my phone so you can see the level of dimness that I'm referring to. Apologies of the lack of quality in the pics.
Thanks!

Looks like a failing screen backlight. I think you'll have to replace the LCD-panel. These things have two backlight tube in them and it looks like the upper one has given up the ghost. No way i know to replace just the tubes.
Look closely and see if it's effecting 1/2 of the screen please.
mayer,
it seems to be affecting approx 1/2 of the screen. See add'l images added to original.
Clint Wagner,
However, once booted up fully into OS, it's not quite impacting half of the screen. You'll see what I mean by differences in #4 & #5
