Keyboard and trackpad not working?

Hi, I have been trying to patch up this old unibody for some time and now the keyboard and mouse suddenly stopped working. If I use a Bluetooth or USB kb/mouse it works thou.

I have tried opening up and reattaching mouse and kb but it doesnt work. THe battery doesnt seem to be swollen. One USB port is dead thou and it could be the issue since I read somewhere the trackpad/kb are treated like USB devices.

I dont think is a bad kb/trackpad since the power button works but the capslock and backlight don't work. Kind of confused here.

Also this mac has had some repairs like a GPU reballing and a cracked screen repair. This issue happened months after screen repair. Any help in how to fix this is appreciated, or if you know of a mail service to ship this and have it repaired please let me know. Thanks.

Do you know if it has had anything spilled on it? I've never heard of this model needing re-balling. Can you give us a better history of its past issues and repair attempts. Unfortunately the keyboard alone on the 13" A1278 can't be replaced, it requires a uppercase replacement. I think you're right to try to pass this one to a professional.

Hi Mayer and thanks for your answer. I got this as a gift with a keyboard that did not worked. You are wrong about not been able to replace only the keyboard. I replaced it and upgraded it to a backlit one since this MoBo have the socket that allows backlight.

It worked for several months until the WiFi module died. I replaced it and then several months later it died again replacing it with the Broadcom version. After several months of good service I tried a cheap adapter to get video out to a monitor and thats when the GPU died. I sent it to a professional repair seller on Ebay (L2 Computers I believe) who repaired the GPU (Nvidia 9400m) by replacing it.

Then again after several months of service all the sudden the keyboard and trackpad both stopped working. I contacted the repair service but I was already out of their 3 month warranty. They told me to reseat the trackpad and keyboard ribbons which I did cleaning them thoroughly with canned air, alcohol swabs.

Anything else to try or sell for parts? THX!
