Will controllers from a PAL console work on an NTSC console?

The console's have noteable physical differences, but the controller port appears to be the same. Will They?

Yes, they should work, definitely, there should be NO difference in the controllers!

I have used both NTSC and PAL controllers on my NTSC console. Both work fine.
