My Problem

My trusty video iPod took a hit from a box at work, which killed the bottom half of it's display.

My Fix

I ordered the replacement from Ifixit, and followed the repair guide. all went well. It took about an hour, mostly because i had to keep taking on and off my glasses to see the connections clearly. I am quite near sighted, and my progressive lenses do not let me see tiny details.

My Advice

One of those magnifying lamps would be useful.

I also use a thin flexible steak putty knife as an opening tool. Just be careful not to scratch the front of the case. It just works better for me, and doesn't break off as easily as the opening tools.

My Problem

Damaged LCD screen

My Fix

Easy and flawless repair, due in-part to the detailed step by step repair procedure

My Advice

Have a magnifying lens available if you are older than 50 ! Some of the ribbon strips are small and hard to see (open and lock) the retaining bars that hold down the strips. Other than that, try it, very easy repair to replace a damaged screen.

My Problem

Cracked screen

My Fix

I used a knife instead of the tool. I broke all the plastic where the screws hold the face down. The ifixit guide was spot on and really helpful, the screen worked perfect once it was installed. Wish I would have just bought a battery while I was in there and a new face plate.

My Advice

Get the tools. Think ahead too. If it's older it probably could use a new battery. Might as well replace it while you're in there.

My Problem

I had my iPod in my back pocket and sat on the corner of a box and when I looked I'd cracked the front screen. Fortunately a friend in work told me about ifixit.com

My Fix

I started with a bit of trepidation as I wouldn't be the most technically minded when it comes to fixing something like this but by following the steps it was very straightforward and simple. I was absolutely delighted to start in up and once more see the screen in all it's glory.

My Advice

Read the instructions, reread them again and then follow them carefully and you can't go wrong.

My Problem

My faithful iPod 5.5 80Gb got knocked on the floor and the screen went blank. I didn't want a new iPOd as the G5 sounds the best.

I googled for info and found the iFixit vid. The rest is as they say history :)

My Fix

I live in New Zealand and the new screen arrived no worries . The repair was easy with the video tutorial. My iPod is like new sweet as!

My Advice

Don't be shy give it a try it's easy

My Problem

LCD Screen damage

My Fix

It went perfect. My ipod is up and running due to the excellent instructions from ifixit and after watching the video. It was impressive.

My Advice

Be patient and follow the video and the pictures provided from ifixit. Really good service from them. Received me part after 2weeks and in good condition.

My Problem

My son cracked his display. Only half the screen was visible.

My Fix

The repair went excellent. Your HOW TO GUIDES with the pictures made this repair so easy. The step by step process even tells you which direction to release the flat ribbon cable connectors. That information is essential to help you avoid damage to the connector locking clips. I could not have done this repair without the guide. The tools are key to an easy repair. The repair took less then a 1/2 hour.

My Advice

Bookmark this site. Buy the tools. Look twice at the pictures as you go through each step. take your time. Buy your parts here. You'll be happy with the results.

My Problem

My iPod slid off of my desk and dropped onto the floor. I didn't notice and accidentally sat a chair down on it. When I sat down, the resulting crunch was heartbreaking. It wouldn't turn on, pretty much the whole screen was black and I gave it up as a lost cause. Then, digging through drawers a while ago, I found it again. I plugged it in to see if I had anything on it I wanted to save. I then decided to give it one last try before I trashed it. Lo and behold, it came on! Music played! All the buttons worked but the screen was still cracked and black. Since that seemed to be the only problem I figured it must be fixable.

My Fix

The repair went pretty smoothly. There were a couple of tiny pieces that fell out that I didn't see in the guide (like the little foam piece by the charging connector), but they were easy enough to pop right back in. And my iPod was honestly a bit dusty on the inside and I had to take a moment to clean it out. But all in all the whole thing only took about 30 to 40 minutes.

My Advice

Just be patient and confident when removing the ribbon cables. You don't have force anything, but don't be afraid to use a little gentle pressure to pop them right out. Also, when pulling the front panel from the framework, it sticks a bit, and pressing against the click wheel and gripping the front panel with one hand while pulling on the frame with the other helps to lift it off.

My Problem

Pixel failure

My Fix

Very well. Problem solved.

My Advice

Use the guides. Learn to click on individual pictures to get a close up of the procedure. Thought I was stuck with a bad screen and got a complete return to new look for a very reasonable price. Also, buy the tools, they make a huge difference and are inexpensive.

My Problem

My Fix
