The lens will not open ¶ 

1. Turn the camera off and then on again. If this does not resolve the problem, go to the next step.

2. Reset the camera

  • Press the "Reset" button located inside the battery/"Memory Stick" cover for 2-3 seconds using a fine-tipped object.
  • Turn on the power again. If this does not resolve the problem, then service may be required. Go to the Repair Guide for further instructions.

The lens will not close ¶ 

1. Turn the camera off and then on again. If this does not resolve the problem, go to the next step.

2. Reset the camera

  • Press the "Reset" button located inside the battery/"Memory Stick" cover for 2-3 seconds using a fine-tipped object.
  • Turn on the power again. If this does not resolve the problem, then service may be required. Go to the Repair Guide for further instructions.

The flash does not work ¶ 

1. If the built-in flash does not function, then the camera flash may be turned off or it is set to Auto and will only flash when taking pictures in poorly lit environments.

  • To turn on the flash so it works regardless of the lighting situation,
  • Press the flash button on the camera, until the forced flash icon appears on the LCD screen.

  • The flash button has a lightning bolt symbol on it or next to it similar to the image below.
  • If this does not solve the problem, continue to next step.

2. Turn the camera off and then on again. If this does not resolve the problem, go to the next step to reset the camera.

3. Reset the camera

  • Press the "Reset" button located inside the battery/"Memory Stick" cover for 2-3 seconds using a fine-tipped object such as a pen or pencil tip.
  • Turn on the power again. If this does not resolve the problem, then service may be required. Go to the Repair Guide for further instructions.

The LCD screen does not work ¶ 

1. Turn the camera off and then on again. If this does not resolve the problem, go to the next step.

2. Reset the camera

  • Press the "Reset" button located inside the battery/"Memory Stick" cover for 2-3 seconds using a fine-tipped object.
  • Turn on the power again. If this does not resolve the problem, then service may be required. Go to the Repair Guide for further instructions.
